Shawnee on Delaware is a quaint picturesque village nestled along the Delaware River in northeasten Pennsylvania. It was founded by Nicholas Depuy in 1727. The Shawnee Indians, for which the town was named, were given permission to live here by the Iroquois. Today one of the main attractions in the town is the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. In the 1940's, the resort was owned by the famous bandleader and Blendor inventor Fred Waring. In fact, Mr. Waring's former home is now a beautiful bed and breakfast called The Gatehouse Country Inn B & B, which would be the perfect setting for people to stay while searching for their dream home! There is also another well appointed B & B, Stony Brook Inn, which just happens to be another former Waring property.  This property was previously owned by Bev and Malcolm Waring!!
